March 26-28, 2010
AU Coliseum
We are so excited to join the faith community of East Alabama and West Georgia in welcoming Will Graham to the Auburn/Opelika area! Will is the grandon of evangelist Billy Graham and his Celebrations are much like the Crusades of his grandfather. This exciting event is designed to reach out to people in our community who do not know Christ and share with them His love and grace. There are many ways you can get involved as members of AUMC, and we encourage you to join us in preparing for this once-in-a-lifetime evangelistic event!
Community Action Workday
Saturday, March 6
We want to encourage all of our members to be involved in the upcoming Community Action Workday! As we prepare to invite our friends and neighbors to the Will Graham Celebration on March 26-28, let’s first show them how much we care by spending a Saturday helping others in need with small projects like home repair, yard work, neighborhood clean-up, etc. Our hope is that by seeing how serious we are about loving our neighbors,
our community will want to know more about the God we serve!
Community churches will meet at AUMC’s Epworth Center at 7:45 a.m. for breakfast and all work will be finished by 4:00 p.m. Please bring a sack lunch.
Attention Youth! The church with the largest number of youth at the March 6 workday will get into the March 28 Skillet concert early for sound checks and rehearsals! Invite your friends March 6 so you don’t miss the chance to see Skillet first!
Operation Andrew
When the disciple Andrew first saw Jesus, he couldn't keep the Good News to himself! "Andrew then went to find his brother...and he brought him to meet Jesus." (John 1:41-42).
Bringing people to the Celebration is a key component of the outreach. The goal of Operation Andrew is for us to identify people in our lives who need Christ, pray for them, nurture friendships with them and bring them to the Celebration. An invitation from a trusted friend who cares--and an offer to ride together--means so much more than a last-minute phone call from an acquaintance.
After all, if the Coliseum if the Coliseum if full of mostly believers during the Celebration, it's not much of an outreach event is it?
