What should I expect?
We’re located a block from Toomer’s corner at Gay and Magnolia. The main sanctuary is where you can go for 3 of our Sunday Services. It’s white, big steeple…hard to miss. Most of the college ministry activities, however, are in the Epworth center (fellowship hall and nearby) located on Gay St. right across the street from Burger King. Look for the signs on Wednesday and Thursday nights.
DIVE is on Thursday nights at 8:00 p.m. Come as you are. Expect sorta loud worship music. Expect to meet a lot of new people. Bring your Bible if you have one. And DIVE into the Word, Worship, and fellowship with us.
Small groups are on Wednesday nights. Expect to meet some new people that you will grow deeper with throughout the year. Expect to laugh. Expect to learn. Expect to share your life when you’re comfortable enough to get real. The earlier you let down your guard, the better your small group time will be.
Do not expect a typical Sunday School class at 10:00 a.m.. We’ll have some good discussion (hopefully) and we’ll dig into the Word together. (Dive’s more of a sermon- Sunday School is more of a discussion-based Bible study). Also expect to go to Momma G’s after Sunday school or the service following. Oh- and expect good coffee, cokes, and donuts.
On Sunday mornings you ought to come prepared for whatever service you want to attend. You can dress down for the alternative service- Resonate at 11:00 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall- or you can expect a more traditional service at 8:00 or 11:00 a.m. in the Sanctuary and 9:30 a.m. in the Chapel or halfway between at the 9:30 a.m. at the contemporary service in the Sanctuary.
What Do We Believe?
We believe in the foundations of the Christian orthodox faith. Everyone has sinned. Sin has earned us death/ eternal separation from God. Jesus took what we earned (death) upon Himself as our substitute. He bore our wrath for us! God made Him who knew no sin to become sin on our behalf so we might become the righteousness of God! Wow! If we place our faith in Jesus Christ, we can have eternal life. Salvation is found in no one else but Jesus Christ because He is the only One who could have paid the proper price.
We believe that all scripture is God-breathed inspired and the primary way God has chosen to reveal himself to people today.
We also believe God has called each of us as Christians to be Christ to the world around us. We are called to share Jesus with the outside world and we’re called to love God and others above all else. We also believe Its hard to grow in isolation and Jesus has called us to love, serve, help, and grow together in a community.
